Racing - Livengood Beaverun 7/8 Chris Livengood

During the weekend of August 7th and 8th Beaverun held round seven and eight of the twelve round Beaverun Championship. This marked an important point in the season because only four events remain. Additionally, each competitor is able to drop their four worst finishes during the season.

Livengood entered both the Saturday and Sunday event but was only competing in his sixth and seven round as he was racing abroad during a previous event. Saturdays event saw twelve TAG drivers competing for the win. Chris was returning to the track after a long mid summer break which included no racing in the month of July.

Livengood took to the track feeling slightly rusty but was confident that his Merlin equipment was some of the best in the field. Qualifying commenced and the small but deep field took the track. Several drivers were able to best Livengood and he only managed to secure the fifth position. Despite this, just three tenths covered the first six karts and proved how competitive the Beaverun TAG field was on this day.

In preperation for the prefinal several changes were made to the kart and a difference was seen immediately. At the drop of the green Chris moved up one position. Entering turn five he gained another. The first lap wasn't even over and he was hunting second! Again in turn five Livengood made his move. Now in second he set his sights firmly on the lead. With two laps down, there were only four laps left for him to get the job done. The leader had managed to generate a sizable lead. It however only took two laps for the gap to be closed. Crossing the start finish line as the two to go flag was given Livengood pulled out and made the pass entering turn one. The prefinal was his!

Staring on pole Livengood was optimistic about his chances for the win. As the green flag flew contact removed the second place competitor from competition leaving only the fast Brain O'Hara to challenge Livengood. Across the twelve lap final event Livengood stretched to a half second lead but was never able to really break away from O'Hara. Nevertheless Livengood won round 7 of the Beaverun Karting Championship.

Sunday's action played out differently for Livengood. The Merlin package was very quick the day before but even more tuning on the chassis was done over night.

Time Qualifying saw Livengood battling through traffic to find space for a clean lap. After two mediocre laps Livengood finally found space and put down a flier. His time was 57.56 and put him on pole by nearly a half second.

The prefinal went well for Livengood who was never really challanged for his lead. Much the same happened in the final as Chris cruised to a 6.5 second win.

This adds to Livengood's impressive record at Beaverun summing six wins out of seven races. Chris now plans to run the Manufacturers Cup at the New Castle Motorsports park facility in New Castle, Indiana.
