Racing - Work Racing/Chris Livengood
Two weeks ago Chris Livengood particpated at Gingerman Raceway in the Work Racing spec racer ford. Livengood, out for just his third national hit the track hard. Within three practice sessions Livengood was running times fast enough for a top five finish.
Qualifying saw Livengood carry this momentum over. Putting in a good lap on new tires he placed the Work Racing spec racer ford in the fourth position out of 21 cars.
At the start of the race Livengood drove around the outside of turn one to move into the third position. He held strong with fourth place pushing him hard. A failing gearbox made consiseant running difficult and he eventually a missed gear and allowed the fourth place competitor to get by. Livengood managed to get the car collected up and tailed closely the third place driver until the checkered flew.
Livengood commented post race.
I drove really hard and made very few mistakes. The gearbox failing made shifting slightly difficult but really I should have just been more patient with it. If I had been more patient I am confident I would have come home third. Even so, Work Racing had a great weekend! We ran tough and raced some of the best Spec Racer competitors in the country.
The Work Racing team next travels to the Grattan Raceway in Michigan. As always, stay tuned for upcoming news.
